-man is trecherous and selfish, but few accepted.

-Sidney’s problem was his pride

-Saints ought not complain about property issues for people of God in the past were happy to be rejected and lived in the wilderness.

-JS explains how God is treating the Saints with justice as they go through persecution.

-government obedience on earth government has to do with exhaultation in the kingdom of God.

-obey world law and have temporal life obey God law and have eternal life p50

-p47 rising generation growing up in the fullness of pride and arrogance

-when bridegroom comes only those with the wedding garment can attend! *I say means temple garment!

-kingdom of Messiah is spreading quickly

-take the liberty, it’s our right -p49

-extent and power of government is to protect us from injury and in honorable persuit and protect us from insult p50

-p51 entering God’s kingdom unlike kingdoms of this earth requires preparation and study

-p52 who adhere to God’s laws will have the happiest condition available to them given to them!

-God would not be just if he gave the sinners the same things he gives the Saints who obey his commandments p53

-when people disregard God’s commandments it’s because they have no regard for their private virtues, and care not to obey God, they care so little about their own wellbeing that they fail even to see the immediate blessings from obeying his commandments. All this even though they have no doubt as to the authenticity of the divinity of the commands.

-in government on earth the 2 parties are often like one is white and one is black, one is virtue and other is vice, one justice and truth, the other falsehood. p53

-seeing as man has found government to be good, would not God have found the same he being so experienced and old? If we see it as good, since all good comes from God, government is from God! p55

-we are bound as rational creatures to obey the laws of God. p54

-when we admit the truth yet do not obey it, we do violence to the Almighty. p54

-direct revelations are never to be trifled with

-vengance upon who disregards direct revelations by God; all who believe God’s teachings MUST admit this. p54

-God has given laws to his ppl which if they obey are sufficient to prepare them to enter into his rest. p54

-nonsence to suppose that God would condescend to speak to us in vain all he says is important

-we have commandments to help us prepare lest why are they given? If we use not this chance why would we use another? p55 for more clarification on this.

-since man has departed from God’s law, God has given them wisdom to form laws. They reject it even from his own mouth, so he in mercy gives them this wisdom to make laws. p57

-Cains sacrifice of fruit not acceptable; it was not in faith for the Atonement is a shedding of blood and Cain shed no blood; it was not imitating Christ’s redemption, so it could not be a sacrifice of faith according to the law of sacrifice then. p58.

-it’s very important how it says that Abel optioned a witness that he was righteous, we think little of this but it means the Lord spoke to him, and if the Lord spoke to him and saw he is righteous, would he not reveal to  him the whole plan of salvation, the ordinances of which have always been the same? Hence he was able to make a faithful sacrifice. p59

-we can’t think the ancients so ignorant of the gospel; all who were ever saved were saved by the plan of redemption; we  can’t believe there are other plans of salvation than the one in Christ; there was no change in man’s nature since the fall of Adam, and shedding of blood ever was the ordinance of salvation, pointing the people forward to Christ. Abraham saw Christ’s day and was glad, seeing he was the blood sacrifice. Galations Paul says Abraham had the gospel preached to him, if not in the name of Christ it was not really the gospel, if not the ordinances which Christ taught it was not to gospel. Sacrifice opened peoples eyes toward the reality of the blood sacrifice of God himself. p59-60.

-Gal. 3:19 says the law of Moses was added because of transgression. what was it added to? Was it not the gospel? *BRILLIANT!  p60

-there are thousands like Job, who knew the gospel and are waiting to stand upon the earth in flesh in the latter-days to see the Lord in their flesh though they once were dead. p61

-it’s not to us to say how much God has or has not spoken; we are the ones who compiled the bible not God; to say that is all he has spoken would be a revelation, for nowhere in the bible does it say that! p61

-if Christ Jesus is not the Son of God, there can be no Son of God, for if the bible is true, than the time for the Messiah to come would be already past now. p 62

-God gives the Holy Ghost to those who obey him p62

-who keep the sayings of Jesus don’t only get the resurrection, but they get to be where Christ is, for he said where I am there also shall my servant be (*we need to serve Christ in order to be where he is). -p62

-the parable of the marriage supper from Matthew 22 the fine linen the bride is dressed in is the righteousness of he Saints p63.

-the crown of righteousness comes to those who keep the faith -63

-Paul faught against the church, but after embracing the church, his labors were unceasing to spread the glorious news. Like a faithful soldier, when called to give his life he did. He is a sample of industry and patience in promoting the gospel. p63.

-reflect for a moment as to weather you would be worthy to sit down with Paul and others like him if you had been unfaithful p64

-to who overcomes “even as I overcame” says Christ, gets to sit on the throne with him. *These are high requirements and expectations! p64

-looking forward to being like Christ is the hope that purifies us. p64

-we do violence to our own good judgment when we deny the Second Coming of the Savior. p65

-our bodies will be fashioned like after the body that Christ has. p64

-who overcomes will be clothed in white raiment; and Christ will confess that person before the Father so they can enter the rest of the Kingdom. *Christ is the one who decides who does and does not get into the Celestial Kingdom. p65.

-if we ever get saved, it will not be because of the righteousness of Paul or other Apostles, it will be because we like those characters, approached God in the name of Christ. If the gospel was not to do this for us, why would it be preached to us? -p66

-there has always been apostates because who does not repent of their sins is cast out from fellowship in the Lord’s kingdom. p 66-7

-strive to enter in at the straight gate for many will seek to enter and not be able to; many are called but few are chosen.  p67

-none is this day has the experience of Paul in building up the church, yet even some of  those he converted went apostate. p67

-As is usually the case, those who go apostate seek to bring others unto themselves. p67

-apostates who turn from the faith in Christ, unless they soon repent, they soon fall into the snares of this world seeing as they are left destitute of the spirit of the Lord. p67

-there is a superior intelligence upon who obey the gospel with full purpose of heart. p67

-who obey the gospel with full purpose of heart, should they sin against that, they being apostate are left naked and destitute of the spirit of God, his end is to be burned. p67

-apostates become as much darkened as they were previously enlightened p67

-no marvel if apostates should use all their power enlisted against the truth, and Judas like, seeks the destruction of those who were their greatest benefactors. Christ was Judas’ nearest friend, then he sought to slay him. p67

-no guile was found in the heart of Christ p67

-for what cause do men seek to destroy those whom they once professed to love? Evil in them. p67

-plan of salvation ought be a “theme which occupies our strict attention”; regarded as one of heavens best gift to mankind p68

-let no consideration deter us from showing ourselves approved in the sight of God according to his divine requirement. p68

-men not infrequently forget that they are dependent upon heaven for every blessing which they are permitted to enjoy. p68

-Our Master is absent for only a little season, at the end fo it He will call each to render an account; who makes no improvement will be cast out as an unprofitable servant, while the faithfulwill enjoy everlasting honors. p68

Orders in Councils:

-no man capable of judging a matter in council unless his own heart is puss; we frequently are so filled with prejudice or have a beam in our own eye that we are not capable of passing right deceptions p69

-in ancient days councils no one was allowed to whisper, be weary, leave the room, get uneasy in the least until the voice of the Lord was obtained p69

-if the president could spend his time the members could also, but in our councils often ppl sleep or one prays and another does not or one leaves early or has his mind on other things. p69

Our Acts Are Recorded:

-future day if we have failed to judge right and have inured our fellow-beings they may there perhaps condemn us. p69

-ask yourselves how much you have excersized yourself in prayer since having heard this council, and determine weather you are worthy to sit down with your brethren p69

Covenant of Tithing:

-we give the Lord one tenth to the poor of the people of his church or as he commands, and he will prosper our business and provide means for us to pay our debts and be faithful to what is entrusted to our care. p70

-may our children observe this holy covenant, and our children’s children. p70

Importance of Revelation:

-former revelations not suited to our conditions p70

-God is to call a remnant, this is not possible without more revelations p70-1

-desolation to cover the earth is near, God will have place of deliverance for his remnant. p71

-take away the Book of Mormon and the revelations and we have no religion p71

-without Zion a place of deliverance, we must fall p71

-when the earth reels to and from and stars fall from heaven, if we are not sanctified and gathered to the places God has appointed, with all our former professions and our great love for the Bible, we must fall. p71

-God will gather out the Satins from the Gentiles, and then comes desolation and destruction, and none can escape it except the pure in heart who are gathered. p71
